In a significant statement, Misamis Occidental's Police Provincial Director, P/COL Dwight D. Monato, has categorically affirmed that the province is far from the negative image portrayed in certain reports and social media discussions that preceded his appointment as Acting Provincial Director. Contrary to earlier perceptions, he attested that Misamis Occidental is a peaceful province, and the challenges now lie in preserving that peace.

Upon taking his post, Col. Monato was confronted with preconceived notions about the province's security situation, perpetuated by negative comments on social media and concerns about rising criminal activities. However, his firsthand experience contradicted these assumptions.

"Let me make it clear that the province of Misamis Occidental is peaceful, and this is contrary to the false information spread on social media platforms," declared Col. Monato. He emphasized that the prevailing peace is a testament to the collective efforts and efficient leadership of the province.

Recognizing the invaluable support of the present administration, Col. Monato expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Government led by Governor Henry S. Oaminal and the City Government of Ozamiz, headed by Mayor Indy Oaminal. Their active collaboration and support have significantly contributed to the Philippine National Police's (PNP) mission of maintaining peace and order in the province and the city.

"Their unwavering commitment to the cause of law enforcement has played a pivotal role in ensuring the security and tranquility of Misamis Occidental," Col. Monato noted.

The Acting Provincial Director further asserted that the PNP's focus now is not just on sustaining the peace but also enhancing it. He assured the community that law enforcement agencies are dedicated to their duty of safeguarding the province and fostering an environment where residents can live and prosper without fear.

The collaborative spirit between local government units and law enforcement agencies stands as a testament to the commitment to progress and peace in Misamis Occidental. Col. Monato concluded by reiterating his dedication to upholding the safety and well-being of the province's residents.
