The second day of the CARD Microfinance Institution Media Lakbay Aral, initiated by CARD Publishing, took participants on an insightful journey through the thriving world of microfinance in the heart of Manila. This educational excursion was aimed at shedding light on the crucial role microfinance institutions play in uplifting the lives of Filipinos and providing them with opportunities for financial growth.

The day commenced with a visit to the historic district of Intramuros, where the participants immersed themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. The group then ventured into Binondo, Manila's bustling Chinatown, to savor the authentic flavors of Chinese cuisine at the prestigious Presidential Grand Palace Restaurant.

Following this cultural interlude, the group turned its focus back to the primary objective of the Lakbay Aral program: understanding the microfinance landscape. The first stop was the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI), an institution dedicated to fostering an environment conducive to the growth and development of a client-centered and sustainable microfinance sector. Participants engaged with MCPI representatives, learning about their tireless efforts to improve the microfinance landscape in the country.

The journey continued as the group explored the realm of microinsurance at RIMANSI MíMAP - Microinsurance MBA Association of the Philippines. RIMANSI, a non-stock, non-profit organization, specializes in providing innovative risk-management solutions to mutual benefit associations (MBAs), aiming to make microinsurance accessible to economically challenged communities. The participants left with a deeper appreciation for the role of microinsurance in safeguarding the interests of the vulnerable.

To complete the day, the group visited the Ahon Sa Hirap, Inc. (ASHI), a Microfinance NGO based in Pasig City. ASHI has been actively involved in uplifting the marginalized communities by offering microfinance solutions, empowering individuals to improve their economic well-being. The participants were inspired by ASHI's commitment to creating a positive impact.

The day's events came to a delightful end as the group gathered at SM MOA Seasides for a sumptuous dinner, reflecting on the knowledge gained during their journey through the microfinance landscape of Manila.

The CARD Microfinance Institution Media Lakbay Aral serves as a reminder of the critical role microfinance institutions and related organizations play in building a brighter future for countless Filipinos, and the commitment of individuals and entities to drive positive change in their communities.
