Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental | Friday, June 16, 2023 the suspended Mayor of Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental Mayor Samson Dumanjug is now facing formal charges for violating Article 237 of the Revised Penal Code, which pertains to prolonging the performance of duties and powers beyond the legally allowed period. The charges were filed against the mayor based on three crucial elements required for the offense.

Firstly, it is established that the accused individual holds a public office within the municipality. Secondly, the legally mandated period for exercising the functions and duties of the said office has already expired or has been suspended. Lastly, despite the expiration or suspension, the mayor continued to exercise the functions and duties of the office.

In addition to the charges related to the prolonging of duties, the mayor has also been charged with a violation of Article 151, which involves resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or their agents. The Municipality of Bonifacio in Misamis Occidental faces a standoff as the suspended Mayor and Vice Mayor, Samson Dumanjug and Evelyn Dumanjug, respectively, defy the memorandum issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). The memorandum, which acknowledges the appointment of Acting Mayor Ricky Bulahan and Vice Mayor Loloy Cuizon, emphasizes the need for the suspended officials to vacate their positions pending the resolution of the investigation into alleged misconduct, betrayal of public trust, and corruption.

Despite the clear directive from the DILG, Mayor Dumanjug and Vice Mayor Dumanjug remain unwilling to relinquish their roles, causing a further strain on the governance and stability of the local government. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the veracity of the accusations against the suspended officials and ensure a fair and impartial assessment of their actions.

The DILG memorandum, which was issued to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of public services and maintain the integrity of local governance, recognizes Municipal Councilor - Ricky Bulahan as the Acting Mayor and Municipal Councilor - Loloy Cuizon as the Acting Vice Mayor. The department emphasizes that the memorandum is in line with established protocols and aimed at upholding the principles of good governance and accountability.

The residents of Bonifacio Municipality have expressed their frustration and concern over the suspended officials' refusal to comply with the DILG memorandum. Many believe that their continued presence in office hampers the ongoing investigation and further undermines the public's trust in the local government.

The DILG, supported by legal experts and relevant agencies, maintains that the suspended officials must abide by the memorandum and allow for a smooth transition of leadership during the investigation. The department has warned that failure to comply may result in legal actions and further consequences.

As the impasse continues, the fate of Bonifacio Municipality's leadership hangs in the balance. The DILG and other concerned parties are closely monitoring the situation and exploring all available legal avenues to ensure compliance with the memorandum and a fair resolution to the investigation.

The residents of Bonifacio Municipality, meanwhile, hope for a swift and just conclusion to the ongoing investigation. They seek a resolution that will restore trust and confidence in the local government, as well as pave the way for effective and accountable leadership moving forward.

Congressman Ando Oaminal Extends Lifesaving Aid for Baby Charlyn's Open Heart Surgery
SINACABAN, Philippines - In a heartwarming display of compassion and swift action, one-year-old Baby Charlyn, accompanied by her grateful parents, has returned home safely after undergoing a life-saving open heart surgery. Today, on June 1, 2023, the Sinacaban community celebrates the successful journey towards recovery for this resilient young patient.

The story began in April 2023 when Baby Charlyn's mother sought assistance for her child's urgent medical needs. Recognizing the severity of the situation, she approached the office of Congressman Ando Oaminal, hopeful for support. Responding to the call for help, Congressman Oaminal wasted no time and extended his aid to the distressed family.

With the collective efforts of the Sinacaban Local Government Unit (LGU) and coordination with the renowned Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City, Baby Charlyn, her parents, and staff from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office embarked on a crucial journey. On April 30, 2023, they traveled to the Philippine Heart Center, where Baby Charlyn was promptly admitted at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

On May 3, 2023, the young patient underwent a successful Ventricular Septal Defect Closure, a complex open heart surgery, which was meticulously performed by skilled medical professionals. Following the procedure, Baby Charlyn spent 10 days in the intensive care unit (ICU), closely monitored by a dedicated medical team. Her remarkable progress allowed her to transition to a regular ward for an additional 5 days until her final discharge on May 28, 2023.

To ensure Baby Charlyn's ongoing recovery and future check-ups, the medical expenses, including the hospital bill, professional fees, and follow-up appointments, amounted to Php 890,000.00. In an extraordinary act of generosity, Congressman Ando Oaminal sponsored the entire sum, ensuring that financial constraints would not impede the child's healing journey.

Recognizing the shared responsibility of supporting their community's well-being, the LGU Sinacaban, led by Mayor Dello Lood, also played an integral role. They provided transportation and travel allowances for Baby Charlyn and her family, amounting to Php 49,252.84, further alleviating the burdens they faced during this critical time.

The Sinacaban community extends its deepest gratitude to Congressman Ando Oaminal for his unwavering commitment to providing vital medical assistance. His benevolence has not only transformed Baby Charlyn's life but also brought immeasurable joy to her relieved parents. May the Lord God bless Congressman Oaminal abundantly for his wholehearted dedication to sincere and steadfast public service.

In collaboration with Congressman Ando Oaminal and the esteemed Governor, Atty Henry S. Oaminal, the people of Sinacaban firmly believe that they can make a substantial difference in realizing their shared vision—a united and prosperous Misamisnon community, where peace and contentment abound.
