In line with the "Implan Pagsasaliksik," the PNP Misamis Occidental - Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) carried out a thorough inspection at the Ozamiz City Police Station on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The purpose of this comprehensive and holistic audit was designed to align with the 5 Focus Agenda of the PNP Chief, PGen Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., specifically focusing on Community Engagement, Integrity Enhancement, and Aggressive and Honest Law Enforcement Operations.

The inspection was spearheaded by PMAJ Olarte D. Kayob, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Provincial Superintendent for Misamis Occidental PPO - Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS). The primary objective of this inspection was to evaluate the Custodial Facilities and Persons Under Police Custody at the Ozamiz City Police Station. This included a thorough assessment of the status and conditions inside the detention cells.

It's worth noting that the Ozamiz City Police Station was recently recognized as the Best City Police Station in the province, and they also received awards for Best Police Commissioned Officer and Best Police Non-Commissioned Officer.

The Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the PNP plays a critical role in the disciplinary mechanism of the police force. It acts as the oversight body for monitoring the character and behavior of all police personnel while also serving as the investigative and adjudicatory body for all administrative offenses committed by PNP personnel.

Additionally, the IAS conducts automatic investigations, known as motu proprio, in cases where police personnel discharge firearms or incidents involving deaths, serious physical injuries, or violations of human rights occurring during police operations. This emphasis on accountability and transparency in the police force reflects the commitment of the PNP to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics among its ranks.
