The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Misamis Occidental is once again celebrating Consumer Welfare Month 2023, a tradition that dates back to the Presidential Proclamation No. 1098, approved on September 26, 1997, during the administration of former President Fidel V. Ramos.

Consumer Welfare Month, observed every October, serves as a poignant reminder to Filipino consumers of their rights and standards when purchasing products in the market. It emphasizes their entitlement to reliable and high-quality products.

This year, DTI Misamis Occidental has launched an extensive campaign to reach the public, especially during the 'BER' months, when people typically increase their purchases due to bonuses and the upcoming holiday season. The agency is focusing on two key aspects: digitalization and environmental conservation.

Digitalization remains at the heart of the DTI's campaign. In an increasingly digital world, the department aims to empower consumers with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed choices online. This includes educating them about online shopping safety and their rights when making digital transactions.

Furthermore, the campaign highlights environmental sustainability. As concerns for the environment grow, DTI Misamis Occidental is encouraging consumers to make eco-conscious choices by supporting products and businesses that prioritize sustainability. This includes promoting locally made products with eco-friendly practices.

The DTI Provincial Office expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Asenso Ozamiz administration, led by Mayor Indy Oaminal, and the City Officials for their unwavering support of the local business sector and their continuous endorsement of the department's initiatives. Their support plays a crucial role in helping DTI Misamis Occidental achieve its goals of enhancing consumer welfare and promoting economic growth in the region.

As Consumer Welfare Month 2023 unfolds, DTI Misamis Occidental is determined to empower consumers, promote responsible consumption, and contribute to a more sustainable future for the region and its people.
